Your first spot trade — and where the fee is
Step 6 of 7 · Updated: · 5 min read
Spot trading means buying or selling the actual asset — you own what you buy, with no leverage.
Market vs limit orders
| Order | What it does | Fee type |
|---|---|---|
| Market | Executes immediately at the best available price | Usually taker |
| Limit | Executes only at your price or better; may wait in the order book | Maker if it rests in the book, taker if it fills immediately |
Maker fees are typically lower than taker fees. If you’re not in a hurry, a limit order can be cheaper.
Placing a first trade
- Go to Trade → Spot and choose a pair, for example BTC/USDT.
- Choose Limit or Market.
- Enter an amount you can afford to lose — start small.
- Review the summary and confirm.
Where to see the fee
Open Orders → Trade history. Each fill shows the fee and the asset it was charged in. Some exchanges let you pay fees in their own token for a discount — this can change how the rebate is calculated, so check the official fee page.
Good habits
- Keep a simple record of trades (date, pair, amount, price, fee) for your own records and tax.
- Turn on price alerts instead of watching charts all day.
- This site does not recommend any specific coin or trade.
Rebates apply to the fees you pay, not to profits. Trading more just to earn rebates costs you more than it returns.
