Identity verification (KYC) — what to expect
Step 2 of 6 · Updated: · 4 min read
Exchanges are legally required to verify who their customers are. Verification protects you too: it makes account recovery possible and blocks criminals from using stolen identities.
What you need
- A valid government ID in your own name (passport, national ID card or driver’s license — accepted types vary by country).
- A phone with a working camera for the selfie / liveness check.
- For some countries or higher limits: proof of address in your name (utility bill or bank statement, usually under 3 months old).
Step by step
- Open the verification section in your account (it is usually prompted right after sign-up).
- Select your country of residence — it must be the country you actually live in.
- Enter your details exactly as they appear on your ID.
- Upload clear photos of your document: all four corners visible, no glare, no filters.
- Complete the face check in good light, without glasses or a hat.
- Wait for the result — often minutes, sometimes longer at busy times.
Common reasons for rejection
- Blurry or cropped photos, glare on the document.
- Name or date of birth typed differently from the ID.
- Expired documents.
- Country of residence that does not match your documents.
If you are rejected, read the reason in the app and resubmit carefully. Contact support through the official help centre only.
Red lines — never do this
- Never use someone else’s documents, let someone else verify “for” you, or buy a verified account.
- Never use a fake or borrowed address, or misstate your country of residence.
- Ignore anyone offering “KYC services”, “verified accounts” or ways around verification. This is fraud, it gets accounts frozen and it can be a crime.
This site does not provide, and will never provide, any method to get around identity checks or regional restrictions.
